Funding Opportunities in Generative AI for Mental Health and Education
Final Calls for Participation in Wellcome Trust and Erasmus+ Projects
Topic: Network research funding
Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes
This is an update regarding two active funding calls with imminent deadlines:
Wellcome Trust: Generative AI for Anxiety, Depression, and Psychosis
Led by Ivan Ogasawara and Felipe Paes, this initiative focuses on fundamental research into the application of generative AI to enhance the measurement and treatment of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and psychosis. The application deadline is 28 May 2025. For further information, please refer to the official call page:

Erasmus+ Forward-Looking Projects:
We are still in the process of drafting a proposal for the Erasmus+ Forward-Looking Projects call, specifically under Topic 7: Digital education - Ethical and effective use of generative Artificial Intelligence systems in education and training. The project aims to develop AI-driven tools capable of providing timely and customized support, responding in real-time to indicators of distress or potential abuse, such as facial expressions, emotional cues, and behavioral patterns. A critical eligibility requirement mandates the inclusion of at least one public education and training authority (national, regional, or local) with the mandate to implement systemic policy reforms. We are urgently seeking such a partner to fulfill this criterion. Without securing this partnership by 26 or 27 May 2025, we will need to withdraw our application. Further details about the call can be found here:
Communication Channels
To facilitate efficient collaboration, we have established two separate WhatsApp groups:
Wellcome Proposal: https://chat.whatsapp.com/I8MD1CqhUtn4nS5rUpt933
Erasmus+ Proposal: https://chat.whatsapp.com/DzxKWokIS4k7ejsg6vttbs
We invite interested parties to join these groups and contribute to these initiatives.
The network is also working on aiding members in the formation of consortia for the Horizon Europe: Health Cluster 2025. News on all developments will be posted by the end of next week. We aim to keep on improving all proposals, strengthening each other’s position, building up on better systems, developing together the required tools to achieve the action goals: https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/docs/2021-2027/horizon/wp-call/2025/wp-4-health_horizon-2025_en.pdf
All members and action allies are encouraged to share proposals, funding opportunities, publication calls, events, and related proposals through any available channel to maintain an updated calendar and enhance collaboration. Currently, please direct communications to [email protected] or any other preferred network communication method. We are in the process of improving this website to better support coordination and collaborative efforts.
Thank you for being part of EU BEACON One Health education action.
